Statement of Faith

Coffee Hour Social is a parachurch gathering of believers dedicated to fostering meaningful discussions among young professionals from various evangelical backgrounds. We believe in the power of dialogue amongst believers to deepen understanding, strengthen faith, and build community.

Our Statement of Faith reflects our commitment to the core tenets of evangelical Christianity. Rooted in Scripture and the historic teachings of the Church, our beliefs shape our community and guide our discussions. Here's a closer look at some key aspects of our Statement of Faith:

God

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God is the creator and sustainer of all things, sovereign over the universe, and infinitely perfect in love, wisdom, power, and justice. (Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Ephesians 4:4-6)

Jesus Christ

We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, who lived a sinless life as both fully God and fully man. He died on the cross for our sins, rose bodily from the dead, and ascended into heaven. He is the only way to salvation and the ultimate revelation of God's love and grace. (John 1:1-3, 14; Philippians 2:5-11; Colossians 1:15-20)

The Holy Spirit

We believe in the person and work of the Holy Spirit, who convicts us of sin, regenerates us, indwells believers, and empowers us for Christian living and service. The Holy Spirit is active in illuminating Scripture, guiding believers into truth, and producing spiritual fruit in their lives. (John 16:8; Titus 3:5; 1 Corinthians 6:19; Galatians 5:22-23; John 14:26; 1 John 2:27)

Trinity

We affirm the biblical teaching of the Trinity as one God existing eternally in three persons-Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each person of the Trinity is fully God, distinct in role yet united in purpose, working together in creation, redemption, and sanctification. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Psalm 119:105)

Salvation

We believe that salvation is a gift of God's grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ alone. By repenting of sin and trusting in Christ's atoning sacrifice, individuals are reconciled to God, justified by faith, and adopted into His family as children. (Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 3:22-24; Titus 3:4-7)

Marriage

We believe that marriage is a sacred covenant ordained by God, intended as a lifelong union between one man and one woman. It reflects the relationship between Christ and His Church, characterized by love and fidelity. (Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:4-6; Ephesians 5:22-33)

Church

We affirm the Church as the body of Christ, composed of all believers from every nation, tribe, and tongue. The body of Christ reflects the beauty of God's creation and His plan for reconciliation among all peoples. As members of the Church, we are called to love one another, support one another, and work together for the advancement of God's kingdom on earth. (1 Corinthians 12:12-14; Ephesians 1:22-23; Revelation 7:9; Galatians 3:28; Colossians 3:11)
